2024 Event Recap
Thank you all for a massively successful 2024 event!
I'd like to thank all of our donors, volunteers, business partners, the city, and everyone who came by to pick up a kit for 2024. We gave out a total of 74 80 (updated total as of Thanksgiving Day!) meals across all our kits. Every ounce of Turkey found a place this year. Every crumb of fresh baked bread. Every prepared kit found a home (including three extra I built during the event out of extra ordering).
Thank you to everyone who makes this possible. I love the city of Pullman and I'm so happy so many people come together to make this possible to give back.
Special shout-out to some of our partners who help make this happen:
For the third straight year they've prepped all the turkey portions and had it ready for pickup the morning of the event. Can't thank them enough for solving multiple logistical problems for me and taking care of so much!
Pullman Domino's Pizza Franchise
Beyond supplying pizza's on the day of the event for the fourth straight year for people donating food to the food pantry, our local Domino's pizza franchisees donated both the Sparkling Cider and contributed a monetary donation to help build out the kits and provide a massive lift to our extras (kitchen items) this year, allowing us to expand our offering there beyond what we've been able to offer in the past
For the second straight year Michaela from Flour Power Pullman has provided fresh baked goods for our meal kits, this year going above and beyond with dozens of fresh baked rolls to add to our meal kits. They were a huge hit this year and were snapped up very quickly, next year there are going to be a lot of people expecting her delicious fresh baked goodies!
Year one we did this in Reaney Park after I rented the gazebo as we were still figuring things out. It was freezing. Literally freezing. My propane bottles froze towards the end of the event and my Lil Buddy heater stopped putting out heat. The city working with us to provide use of the Senior Center gives us an opportunity to stay warm and still give everyone an easy location to swing by and pick up the meal kits. A special thank you goes out to the Parks and Rec team that assists in pointing people in the right direction and advertising the event to people in need as well.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making the fourth year of this event such a success. As we near 300 meals given out and many donations to the WSU Cougar Student Food Pantry I want to express how much this all means to me and how great it feels to give back to a community like Pullman.
